Simply for you...

To the biggest source of my inspiration...
My teachers...

When for the first time I sat on my place....
Completely lost, shy...
It was you who came to me,
Welcomed me with an embrace...

When for the first time I hurt myself and couldn't find my parents around,
With tears rolling down my cheeks,
It was you who came to me,
Lovingly you tended and it was bound...

When for the first time I stood on the stage,
Facing the crowd and sensing the impending doom,
It was you who came to me,
Gave me the courage...

When for the first time I won a prize,
And came to you, feeling ecstatic...
You were there for me,
All prasie...

Today, when I head unknown destinations,
Without any hesitation,
I remember you...

Today, when I fall down and hurt myself,
Without feeling bruised,
I remember you...

Today, when I face the world,
Without any dread,
I remember you...

Every little award I acquire,
I remember you...
For I have a lot to thank you for...

P.S. This has been written for a poetry contest being held at the Writer's Lounge, where the theme is inspiration... It may seem a little cliched to be writing this for teachers, but I honestly feel indebted to them... Please do leave your comments...

teachers!! now i smell something fishy... any exams coming up?

Akansha Agrawal said...

@Chriz
Yes, Akansha finally came up with a poem... :)

The poem is dedicated to my teachers in school... teachers in college don't give a damn about who you are and what you are!
And exams, ah, I eternally keep giving exams... next starts from 13 this month! :(

I too have few teachers who are next to "GODS" for me
My physics teacher, my maths teacher and my tuition teacher......they were the turning points in my life.....they influenced my life in different phases of life but they all supported me at the right time......and tracing back 5-6 yrs...........I can't imagine myself without their attention....
I owe a lot to those three teachers....
Finally lemme name them....I know none can recognize them but still I want to.....
1.Pratyush Sir(Physics )
2.K.Roy (Maths)
3.Sanjay Bhaiya (tuition...)

Well, it's true that we can't recognize them... but they're still teachers... and that's all that matters! :)

I went back to my nursery and class and was reminded of my first class teacher who held me back due to my 'improper' learning! so much for the care :) jokes apart, i still think of so many of my teachers, when I write, read, think... all the time - they surely made me what I am today, and very rightly, I haven't seen a more partial breed of human beings than, my college teachers ;)

P.S. fiction and now poetry... what's next?

@aZoed
Ah the days... can someone return them to me???

Haha... well I dunno if there's anything after fiction and poetry, but I've got into both, thanks to Writer's Lounge...

Nice one...!!

One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.

@VJ Sophie
Hey!Thanks... :)
I agree, it is the warmth of teachers that teaches more than the course material...

Thanks for dropping by... keep coming! :)

My English teacher, Mrs Brown, was a huge source of encouragement to me when I had just started writing. She read everything I wrote, and gave me constructive criticism, just like I was a proper writer. I was eleven. Twenty-seven years later, I'm still writing.

@Leigh
Hey! first of all thanks for dropping by...

Teachers have played a vital role in my writing life too... without them I would probably be nowhere when it comes to my English...

Keep coming... :)

Teachers... ought to thank me now! :P

@Som
'you seem to be the Blue Eyed Teachers Pet ...'
Now that is like realllly unfair!!!

I wrote the poem coz it was a contest and when I sat down to think 'who has influenced my life the most...' Teachers was the answer I got...

Som said...

sorry for being presumptuous ... :)

@Som
Did I just scare you... ;)
